OVERGROWN GARDEN CLEAN UPS

Overgrown Garden Clean Ups Across Auckland

When a garden has gone well past a tidy-up, we bring it back — overgrowth cut back, weeds and vines cleared, waste gone, and a plan to keep it that way.

However Far It's Gone, It Comes Back

Some gardens are past a normal tidy-up: grass at knee height, hedges grown into trees, beds swallowed by weeds and vines, paths you can no longer see. It happens more easily than people think — a busy year, an illness, a rental between tenants, a family property that has sat empty.

There is no judgement here — reclaiming overgrown gardens is work we genuinely enjoy, because the transformation is huge. We work through the property in a sensible order, clear the overgrowth and the waste it creates, and leave you with a garden that can actually be maintained again.

We work right across Auckland, and West Auckland's bigger sections — Glen Eden, Henderson, Avondale — are familiar territory.

Is It A Tidy-Up Or A Clean Up?

A garden tidy up suits a garden that has drifted for a season or two — weeds in the beds, hedges a bit shaggy, everything still recognisable. An overgrown clean up is for gardens that have properly got away: growth measured in years, beds you cannot see into, vines through the fences and into the trees.

The difference matters because the approach is different. A tidy-up is usually one visit; a serious clean up is often staged, tackles the property in order of impact, and generates a lot of green waste. If you are not sure which yours is, send photos — we will tell you straight.

How We Stage A Big Clean Up

A two-person team can transform most gardens substantially in a single working day — but a heavily overgrown section is the exception, and we will tell you up front rather than rush it. Where more time is needed, we stage the work: the first visit targets the areas with the biggest visual impact, so the property immediately looks cared for, then follow-up visits work through the rest.

Staging also lets regrowth show itself between visits — cut-back stumps and cleared beds often push up a flush of new weed growth, and dealing with that on the next visit gives a much more lasting result than one heroic blitz.

Access, Volume And Green Waste

What an overgrown clean up involves comes down to three things: how much growth there is, how hard it is to get at, and how much waste will need to leave the property. A big section with tight access is a different job from the same growth beside a wide driveway.

The weeds, prunings and cut-back material we create are removed as part of the work — including the multiple trailer loads a serious clean up can produce. General rubbish can usually be taken as well when it is included in your quote. Clear photos of the garden and its access are the fastest way to get a realistic quote.

After The Rescue

The best part of a big clean up is not the day it happens — it is the garden staying that way. Once the property is back under control, a regular maintenance schedule keeps it there for a fraction of the effort of another rescue. We will recommend a realistic frequency based on what we saw while doing the work.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Overgrown Garden FAQs

Is my garden too far gone?

No garden is too far gone — we have brought back sections that had been left for years. The only difference a heavily overgrown garden makes is the approach: the work may be staged over more than one visit, and the green waste volume is bigger. Send photos and we will give you an honest assessment.

Can an overgrown garden be cleared in one day?

Sometimes. A two-person team achieves a lot in a working day, and moderate overgrowth often comes right in one visit. Heavily overgrown or long-neglected sections usually need staged visits — we will tell you up front which yours is, and the first visit always targets the areas that make the biggest visual difference.

Do you take all the green waste away?

Yes — removing what we cut is part of the job, and big clean ups can produce multiple trailer loads. General rubbish can usually be removed as well when it is included in your quote; we will always spell out what is covered.

What about invasive weeds and vines?

Clearing them is a core part of an overgrown clean up — including smothering growth like tradescantia (wandering willie) and vines working through fences, trees or towards the house. Some invasive weeds regrow from fragments, so we deal with regrowth on follow-up visits where the job is staged.

Do I need to be at the property?

No. As long as we can access the garden, you do not need to be there — useful when the property is a rental, an estate or somewhere you do not live nearby. We keep you updated with progress and photos where helpful.

How do I stop it getting overgrown again?

Regular maintenance at a sensible frequency — for many gardens that is a visit every one to three months. It is far less effort and expense over a year than another full rescue, and the garden looks good the whole time. We will recommend a frequency once the clean up is done.
